Finally adults, Mildred and Donoph head out to Crypt Club, free of curfew.
Mildred's favorite local band should be playing there tonight.
Donoph is excited to try nectar for the first time.
The band isn't due to arrive for several hours, so the couple mill about on the stage in the next room for some privacy.
Donny makes his intentions clear. He thinks Mildred is the one, and he would give her the world.
They kiss and nuzzle.
"I never want to be away from you again," Mildred says quietly. "You make me feel so special. Can we move in together?"
Donoph hadn't intended to propose tonight... but the moment was too perfect to let slip away.
After a late night out, Mildred follows Donoph home and climbs into his... rather, their bed.
She'll phone her mother about it in the morning.
....Well, it's already morning, but you know... later in the morning.
Donoph's first job as an interior decorator comes from Coral Goldbeard.
Evil and a bit off in the head, Coral left her wealthy family to pursue life on this ranch. Of course, she took a substantial portion of their fortunes with her.
Donoph approaches the woman with a friendly attitude. The more he learns about people's tastes, the better he is at designing their houses. But Coral isn't interested in small talk, beyond the disheartening: "I'm only giving you a shot because I so adore your uncle, Ben. Now get to work."
Oh, there's Ben in the background.
Cliff left his mother's house when Ben was just a child, so Donoph doesn't really know him.
Coral isn't pleased with Donoph's final work. he made the beginner's mistake of using too many vases of daffodils.
"Did you honestly think this crap would make my house look better, or are you trying to make fun of me?" She narrows her eyes and doesn't give Donoph a chance to correct his work. "Get out of my house."
Mildred tries her hand at cooking. She has really got to remodel this kitchen.
But first she has to get used to cooking home-grown meat patties. When Don said his grandmother was a freelance mad scientist, among other things, Mildred did not believe him. But now here she is, discovering that it takes finesse to cook these monstrosities well.
Donoph's second assignment comes from a more familiar uncle—Noam.
The outside of Doctor Noam Archer's house is a bit tacky, but the inside is adorable.
Noam has a new hobby—writing—and has charged Donoph with turning a tiny spare room into a writing den.
Hopefully these strategically placed books will inspire Noam to pen the next best sellers.
A desk and a working computer can't hurt, either.
Meanwhile, Millie piddles around the house. Until looking over her fiance's work tools, she'd never considered using a straight edge to help her drawing hobby. (It's a new hobby. She rolled artistic as her adult trait.)
In the background, outside, Wren's garden is all but dead.
Mildred is so excited about her upcoming wedding, she bought some sexy nighties.
Donoph tells her about his first day on the job, skipping the part where Coral hated his work and threw him out. So actually the tale is quite boring.
"I was rejected for an apprenticeship because I'm absent minded," Mildred brings up.
Donoph stares at her. "You didn't tell me that before..."
"I'm kind of resigned to being a housewife."
"When were you diagnosed?"
"When I was a teenager," she says, as if this isn't a big deal.
"Are you sure there isn't something you can pursue? I can't imagine anyone wanting to sit around the house..."
"I paint and cook! I can do laundry!" Mildred defends. "I'm not as good as your mother with the artistry, but maybe her name will open some doors. Besides, your father is practically unemployed. I thought you'd be less judgmental."
"I just don't want you to be bored, Millie. When did you decide to become an artist?"
"I don't want to talk about that. I want to do something else."
What happens is, Mildred wants to put those sexy nighties to the test.
She tears Donny's shirt off before he even knows what happened.
Unfortunately neither of these sims know what they're doing, and it goes kind of like this:
"Where do I-?"
and
"I don't know..."
and
"OW!"
and
"Sorry!"
Vinca dreams of planning her son's wedding. At some point the dream shifts to planning Stella's wedding, too.
It's a happy dream.
In the morning, it still kind of hurts.
Awkward.
Pictures of the upstairs.
Donoph and Mildred's room overlooks the living room.
Cute place?
Mildred can't decide if the family photo shrine hanging over the living room freaks her out or not.
"Well." Donoph coughs. "That's my father and his mother. My grandmother's little brother, my aunt Callisto, some distant uncle... uhh.. someone... my great-grandparents—"
"You skipped the elf children and the robot."
"The one in the corner is my favorite," Millie says.
Donoph groans.
"You're so adorable!"
Cliff's sculpture crumbles, leaving this rock.
Cliff is kinda PISSED.
Abbey Lai thinks Donoph's motorcycle is totally rad, and is glad she called him to redesign her grandson's room. Little Kai Lai is embarrassed about the crib and mobile in his current room, and has refused to invite his friends for sleepovers.
"You seem like you know what's cool! Please help my grandson."
The budget had some money left after the redecorating, and Abbey insisted he use all of it, so he ordered a guitar printed to match the Lai living room.
Abbey the virtuoso absolutely loves it, and grants Donoph a positive review for his portfolio.
Mildred decides to be all housewifey, and goes to the bookstore to pick up some cookbooks.
In the foreground is Scott, who is now the guitarist in a local band. They make pretty good money.
Though Mildred despises the outdoors, she takes the time to sit with Donoph's cousin and socialize.
"What are you reading?"
"A novel about tomb exploring," Scott replies, only lifting his eyes from the pages for a second, "by Wane McMottder. He has an entire series. Can't put it down."
"Oh."
"Are you going to Dot Caliente's party this Saturday?"
"I thought you two broke up."
"Not really... we're both just seeing other people. Lots of... other people" Scott's face has turned watermelon red.
Mildred really isn't sure what this means.
Stella's pre-graduation awards include a huge trophy from the art club. Her family is quite proud.
Kai Lai wonders why the artists in this town drive around in a firetruck.
(All non-Archer children wish they had a family firetruck.)
After the awards, it's home for Stella's birthday party. In the hours before aging up, she helps Angelica Abe-Radan, Piroj's little sister, with her homework.
The guests arrive. The guy in the hospital gown was not invited, nor was his primary care doctor, Cynthia Soto.
Cynthia apologizes for her patient's behavior. He's high on painkillers at the moment.
Noam made it to this party too.
Piroj is already a man. Stella only invited him to her party; it was Millie and Don who took it upon themselves to invite everyone else and make the day some kind of event.
Vinca begins playing guitar for the guests, while Cliff hides in the studio like the loner he is.
Donoph pretends to be happy to see Mildred's mother, and tells her how much he adores Mildred etc.
When that fails to impress her, he goes on about how much money he's going to make in his career, instead.
"I'm just here to take my patient home," Cynthia says, smiling insincerely. "Millie says nothing but good about you, and that's enough for me." When he stares at her dumbly instead of walking away, Cynthia adds, "You're boring me, boy."
Vinca's guitar'ing is merely a hobby, but judging by the crowd, she's gotten quite good.
S'up Nero.
Stella blows out the candles and waves the noisemaker.
...And becomes a young adult.
Piroj REALLY can't decide what's more exciting. Stella, or cake.
___________________________________________________________________
Etc.: Mildred followed her mother and uncle into the medical field, which I took her out of when she moved in. She was also romantic interests with a bunch of people, including Scott, which caused some annoying problems so I used MasterController to change all those people to friends.
Mildred's favorite color is spiceberry and her traits are: snob, computer whiz, artistic, absent-minded, and hates the outdoors. Artistic was her adult trait, which is why Donoph is so surprised to find Mildred with a sudden artistic flair. I hadn't planned to give her painting as a hobby, but with that trait she is constantly rolling wishes to paint, and painting autonomously.
